Massage therapy is the application of hands-on techniques to assess and treat pain and dysfunction of the soft tissue and joints of the body.


 

Massage therapists use a variety of techniques to help lessen pain, reduce muscle tension, and improve range of motion. Massage can also be beneficial in reducing stress and anxiety, improving sleep, and increasing overall sense of wellness. Each treatment will be tailored to address your specific concerns. Techniques that may be used include Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, stretching, trigger point release, myofascial release, and lymphatic drainage.

Cancer recovery massage is an individualized treatment focused on providing safe, gentle treatment to support people living with cancer. It can be helpful at any time in your cancer journey, from diagnosis, to during treatment and after treatment, as you transition back to your activities of daily life, and for palliative care.

Massage can help alleviate many side effects related to cancer treatment such as:

  • Anxiety and depression

  • Sleep issues

  • Pain 

  • Nausea

  • Address axillary cording

  • Reduce edema/manage lymphedema

  • Improving range of motion

  • Improve scar tissue function

  • Soften radiation fibrosis

Massage during cancer treatment is generally considered safe, however it is always best to check with your doctor before starting any treatment.
